The Prince of Wales Will Participate in UN Climate Conference in Brazil

Prince William is scheduled to attend the United Nations climate conference in Brazil next month, as announced by royal officials.

Prince William and King Charles appeared together on Thursday night at a reception leading up to the climate summit, which is set to be held in the northern Brazilian city of Belém.

The King and Prince were in attendance at the museum gathering, marking an unusual joint appearance at a climate summit preparatory event co-hosted by the British authorities.

Climate Leadership Commitment

The King has been a longstanding advocate of biodiversity preservation - and the Prince of Wales has assumed the responsibility, with his own climate innovation awards, which will be held in Brazil preceding the COP summit.

Palace insiders have characterized the Prince's participation at the forthcoming conference as stepping up an significant responsibility in "global climate discussions".

Recent Engagements

The monarch and his heir, arriving together in the official car, were introduced to attendees such as conservation experts, researchers, environmental activists, foreign representatives and politicians.

This participation featured addresses alongside President Emmanuel Macron of France and other global statesmen at the Marine Economy Conference in the Principality of Monaco in recent months.

Earthshot Awards Connection

The climate conference will align with the the royal's climate innovation prizes, which will wrap up in the Brazilian city the eve of he attends the COP summit on November 6th.

Last week the William characterized the prize competitors as "contemporary champions".

Monarch's Environmental Record

The monarch has been a prominent presence at past COP meetings, providing the introductory remarks in the United Arab Emirates for the 28th Conference of Parties, including the observation: "The Earth does not belong to us, we belong to the Earth".

"Throughout my life I've dedicated a significant amount of my life trying to raise awareness about the survival risks facing us over global warming, environmental shifts and biodiversity loss," the monarch informed attendees.
