During a defensive struggle this weekend, the Broncos managed to secure a close win over the winless New York Jets. Quarterback Bo Nix threw an early scoring strike and specialist Wil Lutz kicked the late go-ahead field goal to seal the ugly win.
Even with recording nine sacks against Jets quarterback Justin Fields, the Broncos were behind 11-10 after conceding a two-point play in the second half. Remarkably, the Jets could only produce just 82 total net yards throughout the entire game.
The Denver quarterback, who went 19 of 30 passes for 174 yards, led a decisive 12-play, 65-yard drive that ended with Lutz's 27-yard field goal with just over five minutes left.
In spite of their horrendous performance, the Jets maintained the ball with a chance to score a possible winning score. However Fields was sacked on fourth-and-eight from the Denver 44 when coach Aaron Glenn chose to attempt the conversion instead of sending out kicker Nick Folk for a long kick.
The Jets quarterback struggled all game, completing just 9 of 17 attempts for 45 yards. The Jets finished with negative ten passing yards, the fewest in any contest since 1998.
"The aerial attack was non-existent," the coach commented after the game.
The running back surpassed 200 total yards for the second straight week and rookie Ryan Fitzgerald made a game-winning kick as the clock ran out to secure the Carolina Panthers a 30-27 win over the Dallas Cowboys.
The Los Angeles Rams finished the first half with a defensive stop and then signal-caller Matthew Stafford guided them to two scores to begin the second half in their comfortable victory over the Baltimore Ravens.
Daniel Jones threw two touchdown passes and Jonathan Taylor ran the decisive touchdown with 4:32 remaining, giving the Indianapolis Colts a close victory over the Arizona Cardinals.
Sam Darnold threw scoring throws to his receiver and Cooper Kupp, and Seattle dominated the trenches on their way to a comfortable win.
Aaron Rodgers threw for 235 yards and two scores, and the Pittsburgh Steelers experienced little trouble in their decisive win over the Cleveland Browns.
The quarterback evaded the defensive pressure and connected with his receiver for a 42-yard reception in the closing seconds, setting up Cameron Dicker's fifth kick to give the Los Angeles Chargers a narrow victory.
The quarterback passed for 261 yards and three scores as the road New England Patriots beat the New Orleans Saints 25-19.
