László Krasznahorkai has won the prestigious Nobel in Literature.
This Magyar novelist was celebrated "for his powerful and forward-thinking oeuvre that, amidst end-times terror, reaffirms the strength of creative expression."
The author has authored five works of fiction and received countless other writing awards, for instance the 2015's Booker International, and the 2013 top translated book honor in Fiction for his debut novel Satantango, a avant-garde work regarding the end of the globe.
Krasznahorkai is the second Magyar writer to receive the honor subsequent to the late Kertesz Imre, who was awarded in 2002.
Brought into the world in 1954, László Krasznahorkai obtained recognition in the mid-1980s when he published "Satantango", which he adapted for the movies in 1994.
This black-and-white film, by Hungarian cinematographer Tarr Bela, is renowned for its 7-hour duration.

Krasznahorkai's 2021 work Herscht 07769 has been labeled as a significant present-day German story, due to its precision in illustrating the nation's social unrest just before the pandemic.

The protagonist is elderly Józsi Kada, who has a secret right to the throne but has taken extreme measures to vanish from the planet.
Krasznahorkai earlier won the global Booker award.
